Buck in Snow Video

...and I still cannot say for sure what these creatures may be. They have bushy tails and leap through the air - could they be baby squirrels?

One Worthy of the Name "Catch of the Day"

You can't ask for a much nicer photo than this...especially from a 3+ year old Moultrie camera that has seen an awful lot of abuse and harsh weather!

A Not-Shot Buck

Here's a look at a buck that made it through the first gun season of the year. Actually, I don't know of ANY bucks killed on this farm so far this year.

Close Up - and a Not-So-Close Shave

This is about as close a look at a deer as you'll ever get with a trail camera. It's a good photo to click on for a full screen view.











This is not a very good photo, but the flash shows a buck with a lot of chin whiskers. I guess he's quit shaving now that the rut is pretty much over.

Notta Lotta

Not a lot of action in the woods with the winds howling to 45 mph the last 2 days. Here is one shot from each of the two cams I now have in the woods.

A Short Video

I'd completely forgotten that this particular Moultrie camera could shoot video, but it appears I changed the menu setting without realizing it. This one is just 10 seconds long, but it's the best thing I have to post today.

A Damn Thief!

Well, there won't be any more photos from the old wooden chair, as someone stole that camera during the last 2 days. It was one of the trail cams that Moultrie donated to my blog last year, and I'm sick about losing it. Expensive lesson learned - I will not have any cameras in the woods during gun season next year. There are only a couple of people with permission to hunt here, and they rely on my blog to see some of the deer; I know the camera had to have been taken by someone hunting illegally. Damn!

In any case, here are a couple of photos of night bucks - I think these are two different bucks, but can't say for sure.

Today's 'Real' Posting

I made it to only one camera today. Here are the best two pics I found (There wasn't much to pick from) - a non-dominant buck and the first rabbit of the new season.

The title of today's entry has nothing to do with the photo - and there's no wildlife in the photo - just me and my cat Luggage. I'm just using the posting to test a couple of things from this end. I should have a 'real' posting later today.

From the Old Wooden Chair

Some of you may remember that last year I pointed a camera toward an old wooden chair back in the woods to see what was eating the corn from the chair each day. (It turned out to be mostly deer and raccoons.) This shot was taken with a camera sitting on that chair, and shows once again that turkeys love drizzly days.

With Deer Gun Season Underway in Ohio...

...I've only visited one camera so far this week; I have no interest in getting shot just to check the other trail cams. Here's a nice photo of a young doe, and one of a mystery bird.
